The New York Jets will release wide receiver Davante Adams if they can not facilitate a trade. Adams, who was set to leave after it was indicated that Aaron Rodgers would be let go, could head to his next team with Rodgers.
Adams has a huge contract that will hinder any trade chances unless he reworks that deal. The Jets can get out of the deal easily with no guaranteed money left on the books.
However, for Adams, his next team will either be where Rodgers ends up or somewhere that can maximize his chances at a Super Bowl. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network has reported in the past that Adams would like to return to the West Coast, potentially with a team like the Los Angeles Chargers, San Francisco 49ers, or Los Angeles Rams.
The Steelers could try to throw their hat into the ring, but without a quarterback right now, they will likely to add any wide receiver from the open market. Adams, 32, would still be a top addition. In 14 games in 2024, Adams still easily eclipsed 1000 yards and had over 800 yards with Rodgers as his quarterback.
