Good morning Gang Green Nation! Word is the New York Jets are seeking to trade wide receiver Davante Adams. If they can’t find a trade partner before the start of the new league year on March 12, the Jets are expected to cut Adams to free up cap space. It would be nice if the Jets could find a trade partner for Adams, but I expect them to come up empty. Adams carries a $35+ million cap hit with him. Any acquiring team would likely have to renegotiate that deal prior to agreeing to a trade. That’s possible, but it’s more likely teams will wait for the Jets to release Adams, saving them from offering compensation to the Jets, knowing the Jets will have to release Adams shortly if no trade materializes. In any event, the likelihood of the Jets being made whole on the third round pick they traded away for Adams midway through last season seems remote. Just another gift from the old Jets regime to the new.
