‘Blood money’ no reason to cheer
Re: “Ohio lands drones, 4,000 jobs,” Jan. 16: Hey, wow. 4,000 jobs. 60 bucks an hour. $2 billion in sales. $800 million in tax revenue.
Wait, what are we doing again? Oh, right.
We’re making death machines for the military industrial complex that has been sucking our budget since Eisenhower. Drones are used for two reasons: to bomb people and to spy on people in order to bomb them.
This is not something to celebrate or even brag about.

This is blood money plain and simple, and it’s a sin that this state and this country bolsters and rewards the manufacturing and usage of these modern-day lethal, remote-control toys.
Let them manufacture these things themselves. Don’t lower yourself and your talents to making it easier for the military to continue bombing whoever they decide is a threat today.
Set an example for your children. They are the ones that are going to have to exist on this planet long after you’re gone. What kind of world do you want to leave for them?
Before you sign on with the devil, ask yourself, what am I going to tell my maker when the time comes? You helped create and perpetuate war and suffering. I doubt she’s going to bake you a cake. Evolve from the darkness into the light.
