Bret Baier and President Donald Trump are warming up for the Super Bowl with a pregame interview on Fox News. The network released an early clip from their pre-taped conversation on Sunday morning. The full interview is set to air at 3 p.m. ET.
In the clip, Baier asks Trump about the controversy surrounding Elon Musk and the Department of Governmental Efficiency or DOGE. In recent weeks, Musk has disrupted federal agencies like USAID and the Treasury Department in a self-stated quest to reduce government spending. Those actions have resulted in numerous lawsuits, as well as firings and resignations within the civil service.
In his interview with Baier, Trump expresses full support for Musk, saying that he’s “been terrific.”
“He’s not gaining anything,” Trump adds when asked by Baier whether Musk has earned his trust, indicating that DOGE is acting at his behest. “I told him to do that.”
“I’m going to tell him… to go check on the Department of Education,” the president continues. “He’s going to find the same thing. Then I’m going to go to the military….We’re going to find billions, hundreds of billions of dollars of fraud and abuse. The people elected me on that.”
This post will be updated with additional news and clips from Trump’s Super Bowl interview.
