A Laurel man who was accused of shooting into a woman’s residence last February is back behind bars for firing off on Facebook.
Jerri Collins, 32, of Laurel was charged with intimidating a witness after he posted a threatening message that was described as “very specific” about his intention to kill someone who was involved in the case against him for shooting into a dwelling. The message was disturbing enough to warrant a charge, said Investigator Macon Davis of the Laurel Police Department.
The shooting into the Ash Street residence of his former longtime girlfriend happened on the week of Valentine’s Day last year. The ex’s cousin was struck with a bullet from the handgun and was hospitalized and underwent several surgeries, according to reports.
The ex accused Collins of the shooting and he turned himself in at the LPD a short time later. He was charged with shooting into a dwelling and his bond was set at $250,000. He posted that and was released, but when he made his most recent initial appearance in Laurel Municipal Court, that bond was revoked since he was already out on bond. That means he will have to remain in jail until that previous charge is handled in Jones County Circuit Court.
