Bitter cold air is on the way to central Ohio, prompting a 10TV Weather Impact Alert Day on Wednesday.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Following our first few days of above-freezing temps in central Ohio this weekend, coming after a long stretch of cold air started off 2025, another blast of arctic conditions is heading our way.
Morning temperatures will drop to near the single digits by Tuesday morning, with almost all of us dropping into the mid to low single digits by Wednesday morning. These extremely cold temps early Wednesday, combined with a bit of wind, will result in feels-like conditions below zero for Wednesday morning.
For this reason, we are declaring a 10TV Weather Impact Alert Day for Wednesday morning.
In conditions such as this, bundling up in layers will be required before heading out. Those who plan to be outside for any extended period of time will need to wear hats, gloves, coats and a face covering to stay warm.
Frostbite can set in with just 30 minutes of exposure in the conditions expected early Wednesday.
While temperatures are expected to be cold early Tuesday and Thursday as well, these days will have more cloud cover and the potential of bitterly cold air setting in will be lower. Wind chills may briefly go sub-zero both days, but such periods will be shorter and more distant between locations.
For these reasons, there is currently no alert declared for either day, but if the forecast changes, this too could change.
Good news for those who dislike the cold, it will only be a brief burst of arctic air. Lows will start to warm back well into the 20s and 30s by Thursday night and through the weekend.
Next weekend could bring some accumulating snowfall as well as a rain/snow mix, so keep an eye on the forecast and we’ll keep you up to date here at 10TV.
