Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels posted several images and messages to Instagram Sunday to honor his former LSU teammate Kyren Lacy, who died Saturday night at the age of 24.
Daniels, who won the Heisman Trophy at LSU in 2023, made a string of posts to his Instagram, reminiscing about his two seasons of playing alongside Lacy with the Tigers.
Lacy was found dead in Houston Saturday night, shocking those in the LSU community and football fans around the nation. His cause of death was not immediately available.
In his social media posts, Daniels pointed out that his last college touchdown pass was to Lacy, and he believed that the Thibodaux native also had a future in the NFL.
Daniels shared a clip of himself celebrating in a video chat with Lacy after he was selected second overall by the Commanders in the 2024 NFL Draft.
“It was yo turn next bro,” Daniels said on Instagram. “We was finna be there right with u i swear.
“Til next time brudda .. we gonna hold it down for u. U gon live yo dreams through us. Hope you at peace now.”
The Instagram stories made clear that Lacy and Daniels built a close relationship during their two seasons of playing together at LSU.
“Love u brudda fr,” Daniels said on Instagram. “Always believed in u, always was there when u needed n vice versa.
“U always brought that energy n positivity no matter what .. a real one ! showed love from the first day. had yo back no matter what !!”
