SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – The ‘Breaking the Clouds’ vape-free initiative hosted an event for students at Anne Sullivan Elementary School for Take Down Tobacco Day on Tuesday.
During the event, the South Dakota Health Department provided information to students about the harmful effects of tobacco and vaping and taught them how to have conversations with others about those issues.
“I hope that they [students] can take away the ability to make informed decisions in their future to stay healthy and avoid addiction. They are getting older they’re got to see peer pressure all the time, it’s gonna happen. So being able to know what they’re gonna be up against and being able to make informed decisions.” said Mackenzie Drahota the Connections Coordinator for Anne Sullivan.
Last year, the Sioux Falls School District and the City’s Health Department collaborated on the ‘Break the Clouds’ vape-free initiative to inform and warn students about the dangers of vaping and tobacco.
