COVINGTON, Tenn. (WMC) -The Covington Police Department is reporting that several stores failed to check identification when selling vapes.
On March 11, 2025, the Covington Police Department concluded an investigation into local retailers selling hemp-cannabis products.
This investigative operation was the result of multiple complaints from individuals who have used the products sold at these types of stores, which were purchased in Covington, and suffered significant adverse medical effects.
Operation “High Stakes” took place at 11 locations in the City of Covington, which are selling cannabis products, which include vapes, edibles, and similar products.
During the operation, 7 locations successfully checked identification to assure the customer was 21 years of age and refused to sell to a minor without proper identification.
4 locations, however, failed to check identification: TKR Novelty and Accessories, US51 Tobacco Vape Shop LLC aka Smokey Bear, Exotic Stoners, and Fastway.
