Facebook plans to start deleting livestream videos older than 30 days in Vietnam by June or July, and has urged users to save their contents.
Since early March users have been receiving notifications from it stating: “Starting June 6, livestream videos on Facebook older than 30 days will be removed.”
Some have reported a July deadline.
The platform has advised users to download, transfer, or convert their livestream videos to Reels for storage. Users can defer deletion for up to six months. After that period, if no action is taken, old live videos will be permanently removed.
Compared to other markets, Vietnam is receiving an extended deadline.
Facebook began enforcing its 30-day deletion policy on personal pages and fan pages in February.
It said in a Feb. 18 announcement: “Because most live video views occur within the first few weeks of broadcasting, we’re updating how long live videos can be stored on Facebook.”
The update would “align storage policies with industry standards” and enhance the live video experience for all Facebook users, it said.

Industry publication SocialMediaToday noted that the change could help Facebook reduce storage costs and optimize resources for AI development.
The decision has sparked mixed reactions, with some users viewing livestreams as important records, personal memories or reference materials for events such as workshops, speeches and conferences.
To help users retain content, Facebook has introduced new download tools.
“To make it easier for you to save live videos you previously shared, we are launching several download tools to enable you to keep your videos indefinitely,” it said.
Users can download videos to their devices, transfer them to cloud storage or convert them into short-form Reels, though this format is limited to 90 seconds per video.
Facebook has stated that videos from memorialized accounts—profiles of deceased users preserved as tributes for friends and family to share memories—will not be deleted.
