(WJET/WFXP) – A Pennsylvania woman lost over $50,000 from a Facebook scam. According to a report, the victim transferred $35,000 from a retirement bank account to an unknown suspect posing as “Matthew West” whom she contacted through Facebook in October 2024. Then on Jan. 9, 2025, she transferred an additional $15,000 from a joint PNC bank account into a Bitcoin account. The suspect also convinced the woman to give her account password and username for the Bitcoin account, which the suspect used to transfer the money to an unknown private wallet.
